Our Freeze Dried Smelt treats are the perfect treat for all dogs, but especially for smaller dogs and cats where you don’t want to give them a full sardine.

We use Wild Caught Lake Smelt specifically.

Smelt carry many of the same nutritional benefits of other fish while being significantly smaller.

Smelt are a good source of Omega 3 Fatty acids particulary EPA and DHA. Smelt also have an Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio of .39 to 1.

This makes smelt an excellent option for smaller dogs and cats where even a chopped Sardine or Mackerel would represent a significant portion of their daily calories.

Given the size of Smelt they can also be a great option as high value training treat.

Smelt treats can also be an excellent option as a food topper for any dog given their small size. You can easily throw in a couple or even several smelt and mix them into their dish without adding a signifigant source of calories.
