Derived from meticulous research and development, our Canine Joint Supplement prioritizes the well-being of your dog.
In a market overly saturated with joint supplements of varying quality (Many of which are white labeled with a significant markup), our focus extends beyond mere quantity, emphasizing the quality of our carefully selected ingredients.
This distinction sets our Canine Joint Supplement apart from the majority currently available and from overpriced alternatives that fail to deliver real benefits.
Crafted with a commitment to canine health, our Joint Support Supplement incorporates a blend of bioactive ingredients.
Our supplement, tailored to meet the specific needs of aging dogs or those experiencing a natural slowdown, provides essential support for joint health during this crucial stage of life.
Notably, our formulation caters not only to senior dogs but also proves to be an exceptional choice for canine athletes engaged in the sporting world. Engineered to sustain your active pup's agility and vitality, our joint supplement offers the additional support necessary to keep them in peak condition. Whether your dog is a seasoned athlete, always on the go, or entering their golden years, our Canine Joint Supplement is the ideal solution for promoting and maintaining joint health.
Stop paying for costly joint supplements primarily comprised of inactive ingredients and cheap active ingredients that offer minimal, if any, improvement beyond a placebo effect.
Collagen Peptides
Our specific Collagen Peptides have undergone comprehensive studies, both in vitro and in vivo, involving dogs and horses. Their mechanism of action involves boosting the extracellular cartilage matrix, encompassing Type 2 Collagen, aggrecan, and elastin. Additionally, our collagen peptides contribute to the downregulation of inflammatory cytokines and inhibits multiple protease enzymes, including Matrix Metalloprotease Enzymes (MMP-13), A disintegrins (ADAMTS4, and ADAMTS5.)
The efficacy of our Collagen Peptides have been substantiated through various objective assessments, including magnetic resonance imaging, and measurement of Peak Vertical Force on a treadmill. Additionally there was a notable reduction in lameness, as evaluated by attending veterinarians, in dogs grappling with osteoarthritis.
What Makes Our Collagen Different
Our Collagen has a specific molecular weight and amino acid distribution.
Green Lipped Mussel
Green Lipped Mussels have undergone extensive studies over the past four decades, revealing a rich composition of active compounds that actively support joint health. These include glycoproteins, fatty acids (omega 3 (EPA, DHA, ETA), and F-Acids), and various glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) such as Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and Hyaluronic Acid. These components play a pivotal role in the construction and repair of articular cartilage, potentially mitigating further joint deterioration.
Research indicates that Green Lipped Mussels possess the ability to modulate inflammatory cytokine levels, including TNF-alpha, IL-1, IL-2, and IL-6, cyclooxygenase enzymes, and Immunoglobulin. Additionally, they contain chondroitin sulfate 4 and 6, hyaluronic acid, and other GAGs, contributing to enhanced flexibility and tensile strength of articular cartilage.
What sets our Green Lipped Mussel apart?
While Green Lipped Mussel Powders may seem interchangeable, there's a critical distinction, and it goes beyond cost. The processing method sets our Green Lipped Mussel powder apart from many others in the market.
While most Green Lipped Mussels are subjected to hot steam pressure cooking in order to open the shells and extract meat, our powder employs a cold extraction process, ensuring it's never exposed to heat.
Additionally, our green lipped mussel powder is not extracted with the use of chemicals or solvents, which can impact the integrity of the active compounds within.
The last key difference between the green-lipped mussel powder we use and others on the market is the attention to time in the processing from fresh green-lipped mussels to green lipped mussel powder.
Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of enzymes that degrade the extracellular matrix. Unlike most Green Lipped Mussel powders, which aren't tested, ours is tested for Matrix Metalloproteinase Inhibition activity (MMP's 1-14), outperforming other commercially available Green Lipped Mussel Powders by a wide margin.
- This is also why we don't make a freeze-dried Green Lipped Mussel Treat, because we understand why consumers want to give green-lipped mussels, and by the time the Green Lipped Mussels make it to the United States from New Zealand (Not Canada as one company claims in an ad) that bioactivity is gone.
Moreover, our Green-Lipped Mussel powder has been tested in studies and clinical trials involving dogs, humans, and horses.
Astaxanthin (Haematococcus Pluvialis)
Astaxanthin is a potent antioxidant (100 times more powerful than Vitamin E). What makes astaxanthin unique, however, is its capability to navigate the entire cell, surpassing the conventional confines of the cell membrane or the cell interior. Astaxanthin extends its impact on joint conditions through the modulation of the Nrf2 and MAPK signaling pathways, thereby slowing the inflammatory cascade, which wreaks havoc on the joints.
Vitamin C
While Vitamin C is most commonly viewed simply as an antioxidant, it does have an important role in joint health as a co-factor in the synthesis of collagen.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid is a non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) present in cartilage, synovial fluid, and various other tissues and plays a pivotal role in joint health. Alongside collagen, it serves as the backbone of proteoglycan aggregates in joint tissue, providing the structural foundation for cartilage.
In its oral form, HA operates by engaging with the immune system, triggering the production of new Hyaluronic acid within the joints.
Unlike most joint supplements, we use a patented low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, achieved through a fermentation process that does not involve the use of rooster combs.
The significance of molecular weight is underscored by the gastrointestinal tract's ability to absorb Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This is especially important as it only absorbs a small amount. While it doesn’t take a lot to exert beneficial effects, it does need to be absorbed, and many supplements utilize hyaluronic acid with comparatively high molecular weight.
Many supplements, when scrutinized against these considerations, render the inclusion of hyaluronic acid as ineffective.
While we wouldn't say glucosamine and chondroitin are useless,
- They are not exactly the most bioavailable compounds, at around 5% and 12%
- Research has increasingly shown that they are not especially efficacious, often performing marginally, if at all, better than a placebo.
- Making them essentially cheap filler ingredients.
- If i never see another ad saying we include more glucosamine, it won't be soon enough
- There are more effective ingredients/compounds.
- There is still glucosamine and chondroitin in our supplement from the green lipped mussels, additionally many chews i.e. feet, necks, trachea, tendons etc. are rich in these compounds.
- Additionally, most dog foods contain variable levels of glucosamine and chondroitin naturally based on the ingredients, with some taking the additional step of adding more purified glucosamine and chondroitin.
We intentionally exclude a marine oil rich in EPA and DHA from our product for specific reasons.
One key consideration is the therapeutic dose required for osteoarthritis, which is relatively high and closely approaches the NO Adverse Effect Level.
Additionally, the variability of EPA and DHA levels in dog food, treats, and other supplements adds complexity.
We want to avoid creating the misconception that adding these essential fatty acids is unnecessary due to their presence in our supplement.
This is one of our biggest complaints around most joint supplements as the fish oil is often added only for marketing purposes. Ie One Joint Supplement includes 1.2 Mg of fish oil (.56 MG EPA+DHA) for a 30 LBs dog. This low of a dose is having no biological effect.
To illustrate, the therapeutic dose for a 20lbs dog with osteoarthritis is 1623 mgs of EPA and DHA daily. Depending on the current food regimen, your dog might be receiving less than 200 mg or up to 1000 mgs of EPA and DHA daily.
Nevertheless, we provide a fish oil calculator to assist you and your vet in determining the appropriate amount of EPA and DHA based on current scientific literature and the specific dietary composition.
Allergies and Sensitivities. We aim to make our supplements available for all dogs, even those with food allergies or sensitivities.
Additionally, this allows for more accurate dosing.
While ours might seem significantly more expensive than other joint supplements, that is due to not only the ingredient quality but also the fact that most supplements contain over 80 percent cheap inactive ingredients.
You won't ever see ours 58% off, with a free gift and free shipping, because we aren't charging $38.97 for a supplement whose total cost is only a couple of dollars, and that's being generous with some supplements.
We are normally all for transparency, but on two separate occasions, we were asked to make a treat so that they (a Distributor and a pet store) could no longer carry another brand. One of the people who asked this is still involved with multiple pet food, treat, and supplement companies.
The Placebo Effect is very real. It can be difficult to judge whether a supplement is actually helping. We would all like to believe that the supplements we are providing to our dogs are helping, but are they actually helping?
This is why we include a pain questionnaire designed to help you better judge whether the supplement is actually helping, or whether it's just the placebo and caregiver effect.
No Fillers And That Is The Truth
Most supplements make extensive use of fillers aka inactive ingredients. Some supplement companies advertise no fillers, and then you see 15 inactive ingredients. which make up 92% of the supplement. This is another reason why our supplements seem to be more expensive, and that’s because our supplements are all active ingredients, not Garbanzo Beans, and glycerin.
If your dog is picky and doesn’t like powder added to their food, we offer several delicious, healthy, nutritious dog food toppers Krill, Freeze Dried Goat Yogurt, F Freeze Dried Single Protein Dog Food Toppers that can be mixed in with the supplement to entice your dog.
None of These
Dried Yeast, Canola Oil, Citric Acid, Dried Potato Product, Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Natural Flavoring, Sorbic Acid, Tapioca Starch, Vegetable Oil, Coconut Flour, Garbanzo Flower, Flaxseed, Palm Oil, Pea Flower, Powdered Cellulose, Tapioca, Brewer’s Yeast, Vegetable Glycerin, Safflower Oil, Natural Bacon Flavor, Mixed Tocopherols (Synthetic Vitamin E), Natural Preservative.
The above is by no means an exhaustive list.
1 out of 5 dogs under 7 years of age will get some form of joint injury or joint disease.
7 out of 10 senior dogs suffer from osteoarthritis.
